Academy Band

Cinderford Academy Band

Formed in 2006, the principal aim is to teach and encourage musicians young and old in the art of music making. Their conductor Clive Lewis is a highly respected musician and teacher across the Forest of Dean who has been a member of the Cinderford Band for over 35years.

Clive has many years of experience as a player, teacher and conductor and has arranged many of the band’s musical repertoire. The band provides free use of an instrument and with free tuition, the opportunities are there for players of all ages, 8 to 80, we don’t mind. Young members will gain musical skills and knowledge combined with fun and support for their music exams. In support of Clive, other Senior band members are on hand to give one to one tuition for beginners.

From their first concert performance in 2006, under Clive the band has gained a reputation across the district with their concerts and now have a busy engagements program.

Clive has also achieved success at several contests, coming third, two years in a row at the Gwent Music Festival and more recently gaining Silver Medals at the Soundsport Music Events at Lydney and Basildon, Essex.

Rehearsal facilities are in a safe environment at the Foxes Bridge day care centre, Valley Road, Cinderford, GL142LJ and take place every Wednesday from 6.30pm to 7.45pm. The centre has parking, toilets and disabled facilities, for more details please look at the bands Home page. The band is always looking to strengthen its ranks and offers a warm welcome to anyone interested in joining. Clive is very interested in hearing from any brass or percussion player who may be thinking of joining or simply just come along and listen. Clive can be contacted on 01594843966.

We hope to see you soon!
