CINDERFORD BAND'S MUSIC ACADEMY BAND

CINDERFORD ACADEMY BAND 2012

The Cinderford Band has ambitious plans for its future after re-launching it's Junior Band. The goal of the academy is to provide an opportunity for young and old alike to enjoy, learn and develop their musical skills. Once established the plan is to enable the band to undertake their own engagements, enter solo/quartet and band contests but firmly underpinned with a focus on learning and fun. The band will be led by Clive Lewis who is an accomplished musician. As well as a skilled performer, conductor and arranger, he has had many successful years of experience coaching and developing young (and older) players in the Forest of Dean. Importantly, we also want to work in-conjunction with local schools and parents, providing free tuition and instruments for any children interested, in order to enable them to progress to the senior band and possibly study for their Associated Board of Music exams which should in turn complement their school musical curriculum.

The band's has a very bright future under Clive. He is a highly respected musician and teacher across the Forest of Dean. Clive has been a member of the band for over 25 years and he has many years of successful experience behind him both as a player, teacher and conductor. He is very excited about the future and having the opportunity to conduct such a talented group of local musicians. He is already busy preparing programmes, featuring the Academy Band at local concerts and contests in the coming months ahead. This band has made fantastic progress under his guidance since the group was formed in May 2006, with over 20 new members. They are all really enjoying themselves both musically and socially and this was evidenced at their very successful summer school held at Soudley, where they gave their first concert performance in 2006. Clive believes some of these players will soon be challenging for positions in the senior band, so the future looks very bright indeed..

Free use of an instrument, with free tuition makes this an ideal package for already experienced players and new players alike. The members will gain musical skills & knowledge, combined with fun and support to study for your music exams (Please note pupils will have to pay their own exam entry fees, if they wish to take these). Rehearsal facilities are in a safe environment at the local Wesley Church, Cinderford with parking, toilet and also with disabled facilities. We have a dedicated team to make sure that all ages and music abilities are catered for with support from the Senior band and it's committee has made this a great time to learn an new instrument, or just to brush up on your skills. The Cinderford Band is always looking to strengthen its ranks and offers a warm welcome to anyone interested in joining them.
