We are all looking forward to the GBBA contest at RFOD and we hope we can put behind us the bad result at the Wychavon Contest. Rehearsing is going well for the contest and we are all looking forward to a good result on the day.
Planning is in advance and organising is well ahead of the "Celebrity Contest" at the RFOD theatre. Any help for the event is very welcome from everyone including friends and families. If you know of anyone that can help the band out on the night of the concert or leading up to it by giving out posters etc, let us know.
The concert has been extensively promoted on radio, newspapers and websites. If you feel you can help in giving out posters then please speak to me or Phil Turner for copies.
More photographs have been uploaded into the albums and more information is going to be added very soon. If you can feel you can help us in any way in lending documents or photos that we can copy to place on the website then please let me know.
Thanks
Ian Tomlins

Updates of all the solo contests will be uploaded to the site very soon!
As you are all aware we had a great couple of grants from the National Lottery, and the Acorn Trust towards the purchase of new instruments to the total sum of £14,000. This is as will agree will boost the morale of everybody, and give new talent a good reason to join with musical subjects at schools dwindling.
We will of course be having a open day for the academy with details being released shortly for the summer. This will incorporate a big press release on our new funding and of course the senior band will be there in numbers to give support. With radio, maybe television and all local newspaper reporting, this will be a great opportunity to promote the Academy and Cinderford Band as a whole. I hope everyone can do there bit in supporting this, which will of course be a benefit to all concerned.
You will find all the concert dates for this year on the Academy Page or alternatively phone Clive or email me at cinderfordband03@aol.com for more details. The dates can also be found on www.4barsrest.com

As some of you are aware Nikki Smith, Tina Whitburn, and Jane Walding have volunteered to kick-start up our fundraising organisation.
If you have any ideas then can you please contact them at rehearsal or email the band so that they can discuss any new ideas. If you know of any persons that would like to join them in raising funds for the band then please also pass the information on to them.

The recent success at the local xmas concert held at the Wesley Church, Cinderford gave us a healthy profit of around £500. This is a great result for both the Senior Band and Academy Band. The Academy band is going from strength to strength and we are in the process of replacing and upgrading the instruments already thanks to the money that was received from the concert and the Acorn Trust.
